Daily Life in Camp

At a refugee camp, it is usually overcrowded and and very hot. The temperature can reach up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. They also don’t have much electricity. Most camps are built in the middle of nowhere and are structured like prisons or mental hospitals. They have fences surrounding the perimeter and even guards to prevent anyone from leaving or entering without identification. Camps are located in inhospitable, isolated areas. There are no streams, sewers, or electricity. This makes it tough for the people who have to walk long distances to fetch water from dirty rivers. They have to use candles instead of electric lights.

The life of a refugee is similar to someone’s in jail. But the refugee does not know when they would ever get out. Refugees don’t do much each day. They mostly talk, sleep, and play games. Aside from that, there isn’t much to do.

Life in a refugee camp is difficult and dull. Refugees have are no longer hopeful that they will be able to return to their previous lifestyles because no one knows when they'll be able to leave. They are provided meager rations and water is hard to find. The daily life at a refugee camp is miserable.
